The author analyses how precarity and precarization are tackled in the sociology of work, class analysis (the Marxist and the Weberian traditions) and in various modern fusion schemas. The article emphasizes the basic weakness of the precarity studies which consists in the lack of agreement over the indicators that define precarity. Methodological disarray leads to tangible differences in empirically obtained results. The article uses the data of the study Social structure of modern Russian society held in 1998, 2007 and 2015 to illustrate changes in precarity in Russian society. It concludes that precarity can hardly be used as a definitive feature of social class. Nor is it a reliable way to define the meandering of career fortunes or stages in the life cycle. The article provides a new perspective for studying of precarity as a social condition of marginality that point to critical weaknesses in economic and social development.Ключевые слова: employment precarity class analysis precariat job security Оглавлениескрыть оглавлениепоказать оглавлениеContents List of figures vii List of tables ix List of contributors xii Introduction 1 JOUKO NIKULA AND MIKHAIL CHERNYSH 1 Specificities of middle-class structuration in Russia 22 MARKKU KIVINEN 2 The structure of the Russian middle class 51 MIKHAIL CHERNYSH 3 The scale and dynamics of employment precarity in Russian society from 1998 to 2015 65 YULIA EPIKHINA 4 Social mobility: a theoretical and empirical perspective 84 MIKHAIL CHERNYSH 5 The role of the state and performance of the welfare state in Russian people’s opinions: what lessons can be learned with respect to the welfare regime and class situation? 103 MARKKU SIPPOLA AND KATRI-MARIA JÄRVINEN 6 Working life in Russia 124 HARRI MELIN 7 Housing the Russian middle class 144 MARINA KHMELNITSKAYA AND ALEKSANDRA BURDYAK 8 Poverty and confidence in Russia 175 SIMO MANNILA AND MARKUS KAINU 9 The structure of Russians’ values in the context of social modernization 188 NATALIA MASTIKOVA 10 Waiting for the middle class society? 20 2 JOUKO NIKULA AND MIKHAIL CHERNYSH Index 214Рубрики: Социальная структура и стратификацияВозможно, вам будут интересны другие публикации:Информационно-аналитический бюллетень (ИНАБ). 2019. № 4.
